Mickey Vernon of the Washington Senators got his 2,000 career hit on September 2. He also belted his 19 home run of the season for a franchise record for left handers.

Stan Musial of the Cardinals hit 5 home runs by himself during a May 2 doubleheader against the Giants. Also in a weird coincidence 8 year old Nate Colbert ,who grew up to play for the Houston Astros, Expos, Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics, was in attendance at that game and would become the only other player in Major League history to tie Musial's 5 home runs.

On May 4, the Phillies and Cardinals set a Major League record by using a staggering 42 combined players during an 11 inning game. Philadelphia used 7 pitchers throughout the game and the St. Louis had 8 men to pitch.
Milwaukee Brave Joe Adcock hit 4 home runs and also a double for a total of 18 total bases during a 15-7 win over the Dodgers on July 31. Adcock's 18 bases set a Major League record and also had 7 bases from the day before, gave him a 2 day total of 25 this tied Ty Cobb record.
